How to Tone Your Abs and Remove Love Handles

Here are some tips to a Slimmer Waist line & Important factors when it comes to understanding your core. It’s okay to have a little lower belly fat in fact its needed to be in good health. Staying active, working out, staying hydrated and keeping the body well-nourished will all help reducing body fat. Make it a priority to be healthy and happy and to find self-love. For me happiness is being confident in who I am and working out to make myself feel good and strong and eating well to help my body stay healthy. Always remember to do what makes YOU happy and no one else. When it comes to losing weight and body fat you must remember to be patient!

  1. Nutrition

We all have abs it’s just a matter of shredding body fat in order to uncover them. In order to see you’re your abs you need to clean up your diet. There’s no other way around it. Start by powering every meal with protein! Protein raises your metabolic rate and is the building blocks of muscle. The more muscle mass you have the more the calories you will naturally burn at rest. Hydration is also key; I usually aim to drink around 3-4 liters a day! You can buy water bottles to keep track of how much water you’re drinking daily. Eight 16oz water bottles is 1 gallon of water, aim to drink at least 3-4 bottles by mid-day (around 3-4pm) and another 3-4 bottles throughout the evening. You can also use a water bottle with allocated times on it to keep you on track throughout the day. Try to avoid sugary drinks, soda, or anything with cream. If you’re a coffee lover like me on your next stop to Starbucks try a Sugar free Vanilla Frappuccino Blended with a scoop of protein powder and instead of milk or cream opt for a lighter option like water, almond or soy milk. This is so tasty in the morning especially if you’re craving something sweet!

  1. Ab Muscles

When people think about getting six pack abs they are actually referring to one muscle, the Rectus Abdominus which runs from the lower part of the rib cage to the top of the pubic bone. Your core consists of 4 muscles the External/Internal Obliques, Rectus Abdominis and Transversus. The lower abs is one of the most difficult areas to target because of the accumulation of body fat. In order to tone and tighten this area it is essential that you have an adequate nutritional diet that is suitable for your lifestyle and your goals. I will be doing a series of Ab Workout Videos to show you how to target each of your ab muscles to really make your Abs pop!

  1. Cardio

When it comes to cardio the options are endless. Choose a type of cardio that is fun and that you enjoy. Cardio does have an impact in weight loss but you don’t need to do hours and hours of cardio to reach your fitness goals. I personally love to do sprints because they are designed to burn more calories in a shorter period of time, boosts and improves your overall metabolism and can actually promote muscle building allowing your physique to become more tone and lean. Simply sprint for 30-45 seconds every 4 minutes at about 80-85% of your maximum heart rate while staying within 70-75% of your maximum heart rate during your “recovery period” REPEAT for 30 minutes. Full Body Circuits are very effective as well. I will be posting more fat blasting circuits that you can do at home with minimal equipment or in the gym! Please also remember you cannot SPOT FAT reduce in any particular area on your body.

  1. High Reps Light Weights

This is more of a personal preference for me I have found doing higher reps with light weight has really helped strengthen my core as well as sculpt and define my abs. Another great way to train your abs is to do time under tension method. This can create incredible results! Aim to train your abs 3-4 times a week after your workout.
